About the Tohoku Region
The Tohoku region is located in the northeastern part of Honshu, Japan’s main island, and is made up of six prefectures: Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Akita, Yamagata, and Fukushima.
The Tohoku region has cities centered on Sendai, as well as villages surrounded by mountains and towns facing the Sea of Japan or the Pacific Ocean. You can encounter different scenery with each season — cherry blossoms, summer festivals, autumn leaves, and snowy landscapes.

What We Noticed While Making This Map
Looking at the number of medical institutions in the Tohoku region, what stood out to us was that general clinics increased once and then decreased again.
Hospitals and dental clinics have also decreased, and we found that the scale of change differs by type of medical institution.
