About the Kinki Region
The Kinki region is made up of Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, and Wakayama. It is also widely known by the name “Kansai.” There are several ways to define the region’s boundaries, but in this article we count these six prefectures as the Kinki region.
From the historic towns of Kyoto and Nara, to the urban centers of Osaka and Kobe, to the areas around Lake Biwa and the Kii Peninsula, the Kinki region includes a wide variety of places. Living and travel conditions also differ, from city centers to mountain areas to coastal towns.
Many people visit the Kinki region from overseas for sightseeing and work. If you fall ill while traveling or staying here, finding a hospital or clinic in unfamiliar surroundings is not always easy. A sudden toothache might also send you looking for the nearest dental clinic.

What We Noticed While Making This Map
Looking at the number of medical institutions in the Kinki region, what stood out to us was that hospitals decreased slightly, while general clinics kept increasing.
Dental clinics have decreased, and we found that, even within the same Kinki region, the type of medical institution shapes how the numbers move.
